The Baseline Milestone described in this directory was run on a single processor of the SGI Origin 3000 named chapman at NASA Ames on September 18, 2002. There were some problems with the multipole library that seem SGI-specific and prevented the job from being run there by July 30, 2002. Therefore the job was run earlier on a single processor of an IBM SP at Brown University. The results of the run on the SP have been posted on this website in the directory named Baseline_on_SP and this served as the baseline run until the one on the SGI was done. We will use the run on chapman rather than the one on the SP as the "official" Baseline Milestone. This is because we will be unable to do our later large parallel runs for the later milestones on the SP and will do them on chapman. Because the speed of the SP and of chapman differ, running all the milestones on chapman is the best course of action to allow valid comparisons. The SP runs more slowly than the SGI so the SGI baseline will be a more appropriate one to use for comparison with the later milestones that will be run on the SGI.
